Hi! I'm Lauren (she/they), and I'm a pan queer game designer and editor with 5 years of professional experience in technical writing and editing. I've edited 10 tabletop rpg game texts in the past year alone. This experience covers new game systems, as well as a variety of existing game systems, such as those Powered by the Apocalypse, Forged in the Dark, and Penned to Good Society. I've also been the editor for the Gauntlet's monthly rpg zine Codex for two years.
I love writing and communication—skills I truly honed training with Write, a world leading Plain Language firm. Plain Language is commonly defined as: "writing that is clear, concise, well-organised, and follows other best practices appropriate to the subject or field and intended audience." I bring that insight to each project. For over 2 years, I have coached one-on-one Plain Language sessions and run workshops on crafting documents with the principles of Plain Language.
I hold a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Science in Psychology from Victoria University Wellington (New Zealand). My Master's thesis analysed the re-traumatisation of rape complainants in the courtroom, and the use of rape myths to undermine complainant testimony.
